Mercury-DOC Interactions:Cinnabar Precipitation

- DOC inhibited the precipitation of metacinnabar, a higihly insolublel solid, at most natural pH conditions.

- Precipitation of metacinnabar was inhibited in the presence of very low concentrations of DOC.

- DOC from the F1 site inhibited precipitation moreo than the DOC from the 2BS site.

- Inhibition of precipitation by DOC could significantly affect the removal of Hg to the sediments.
