4. RESULTS: LABORATORY EXPERIMENT
The ratio of K+/SiO2 illustrate the rapid initial release of
K+ with respect to silica. After two weeks this ratio
decrease by a factor of 100.
This result is important in illustrating the solute release behavior in a tuff sample with a
known mechanical disaggregation history, and with no possible organic source of K+.
The ratio of K+/SiO2 decreases by a factor of 100 in
about 16 days.
