Re: Protected phreeqc.dat?

Dear Yonghui,

Yes, you can modify phreeqc.dat in order to fit your needs. While
Phreeqci is running it loads the default database in order to create
the various lists of species used by some of the keyword screens.
When a database is loaded it cannot be modified.

The easiest way to modify phreeqc.dat using phreeqci is to copy
phreeqc.dat to something like my_phreeqc.dat and open
that file with phreeqci. After you've made all the necessary
changes save my_phreeqc.dat and close it. Then change the
default database using "Set Default Database..." from the "Options"
menu to your modified file.

Another option is to modify the database file with another program
such as Notepad. If you choose this option, you must make sure
that phreeqci is not also running at the same time, otherwise you
will receive the same error message.

Also, you may want to install the latest version Build 2015 from
the WWW at:
https://wwwbrr.cr.usgs.gov/projects/GWC_coupled/phreeqc/index.html
It includes some bug fixes as well as support for additional keywords.

Dear Sir,

I have a question about the
Alpha test version 2.3.2010 of PHREEQCI,
which includes also PHREEQC.

When I tried to modify the Phreeqc.dat to fit my caculation, the file
told me that it was protected, then could not be changed. It can not be
deleted, too. But the same database downloaded from PHREEQC can be
modified.

Could you please tell me whether I can modify the Phreeqc.dat? If can,
how?

Thank you very much!

With best wishes

Yours sincerely
