Results

  • 1. The ECM profile shows two large peaks at 88 m and 123 m.

  • 2. The preliminary age-depth profile shows ages corresponding to about 1881 and 1805 A.D.

  • 3. The volcanic record of events most likely to have recorded ECM peaks indicate the sources of the two large peaks are Krakatau (1883 A.D.) and Tambora (1815 A.D.).

  • 4. A refined age-depth profile was constructed combining isotopic age dates and the Krakatau and Tambora volcanic events. The 14C date and 7 volcanic events prior to Tambora were not used in the refined age-depth profile.
