Abstract
Flow over 2D dunes has been studied in particular detail, but flow over 3D dune structures is only now becoming possible. A graduate student at Santa Barbara, working with John Nelson, has measured the three-dimensional velocities of water over 3D dune structures using an ADV probe. We are currently comparing the measured data with model results of a fixed lid 3D flow simulation. We will soon be posting results from these experiments.
